Kirsten Stingle's Shadow Circus at the Marietta-Cobb Museum of Art

“Shadow Circus” is a MUST-SEE exhibition featuring recent works of ceramic
artist Kirsten Stingle and encaustic painter Lorraine Glessner.  Shadow Circus brings to light the inner stories and dialogues we have with ourselves.

I absolutely love Kirsten Stingle's work!  She combines distinctive, hand-built porcelain figures with discarded relics to create a narrative that engages the viewer. A mother of two young boys in her suburban setting, Kirsten takes the tradition of Southern storytelling far beyond the ordinary nostalgic backdrops with her deep, edgy contemporary works. Her sculpture combines richly detailed porcelain figures with vintage relics and found artifacts, created in a way that challenges us to interpret and understand more about ourselves.
Lorraine Glessner's encaustic paintings are richly layered, requiring the viewer to go deep within to understand what our shadow side is trying to tell us.
