The Magic of a Wish

From finding a four-leaf clover to throwing a penny into a fountain, we have all felt inspired to make a wish…or, to whisper our secret desires into the ears of the universe and wait for signs that we have been heard. Some wishes come true, while others remain ethereal visions that either stay with us or fade like a star at dawn. Whether they come true or not, wishes are important missives, expressing our heart’s desire as well as our intention to create something new in our lives. When we wish for something, our consciousness opens to receiving it, like arms unfolding to welcome an embrace.

There is something innocent and magical about making a wish, as it recalls the energy of childhood. Unlike the realm of adulthood, wishing is not about formulating a plan and following it step-by-step to attain a goal. Wishing -- a playful volley across the universe -- is an invitation to play. Waiting for the response is an integral part of the process. Wishing inspires the possibility of magic, as we wait to see if the invisible realm will bring our wish to life. Being open to possibility is a beautiful gesture in and of itself, regardless of the outcome. We place ourselves in a magical mind, and this state of mind is arguably as wonderful as the fulfillment of our wish.

The next time you see the first star of the evening, or find yourself in front of a birthday cake covered in flaming candles, give yourself the gift of the magical realm that you knew so well as a child—close your eyes, open your mind and make your wish.

Balancing Your Energy

As a hypnotherapist and Reiki master, I am a firm believer in the mind - body connection. Negativity of any kind drains energy significantly, thus it is very important to maintain balanced chakras.

Chakras are our energy centers. They are openings that allow energy to flow into and out of us. Their function is to vitalize the physical body and to bring about the development of our self-consciousness. They are associated with our physical, mental and emotional interactions. There are seven major chakras.

The first chakra, the base or root chakra is located at the base of the spine and is defined as the chakra that governs understanding of the physical dimension. It is the energy center through which one experiences fight-or-flight response. It is perceived as the color red.

The second chakra is located in the sexual organs (ovaries in woman and testes in men) and is the chakra of creativity. It governs attitudes in relationships, sex and reproduction. It is the color orange.

The third chakra is located in the solar plexus. It is the clearinghouse of emotional sensitivities and issues of personal power. It is the color yellow.

The fourth chakra is the heart. This is the center through which we love. It is the color green.

The fifth chakra, or throat chakra is the center of expression, communication and judgment. It is seen as the color blue.

The sixth chakra, or third eye is located in the center of the forehead. Through this center, we consider our spiritual nature. It is seen as the color indigo.

The seventh chakra, or crown chakra, is located at the top of the head. Through this chakra, one may ultimately reach the feeling of integration with Higher Self or God. It is seen as violet or as the combination of all colors: white light.

Below is the guided mediation I use to balance the chakras:

Take a deep breath and exhale slowly - repeat this three times.

Imagine a ball of white light above your head – we call this “The Ball of Relaxing Light.” This Ball of Relaxing Light begins to move slowly downward. As it moves, your forehead begins to relax. (Move it through the entire body).

As the Ball of Relaxing Light moves through the soles of your feet and into the floor, it extends anchors, like roots on plants...you can feel these imaginary anchors grounding you.

Now that you are TOTALLY relaxed, begin to visualize the most beautiful garden you’ve ever seen. This garden is called, “The Healing Garden of Balance and Tranquility”. This garden will provide you with the perfect energy you need to feel refreshed and revitalized.

Take a lingering stroll in this garden. As you do so, your body feels the balancing energy.

This balancing energy is now moving slowly through the imaginary roots on the bottoms of your feet to your ankles...through your calves...past your knees...your thighs and now to your base chakra. It is flowing through it...capturing all of the negative energy that is causing your blockages.

It replaces the negativity with revitalized, balanced energy and refreshes it. Now it flows to your second chakra…your third chakra...your fourth chakra...your fifth chakra...your sixth chakra...your crown chakra.

You must properly dispose of all of the negative, unbalanced energy than has been removed from your body. As this energy flows out of your crown chakra, imagine it is captured overhead and is recycled far away from you.

Now, slowly count from 10 to 1, you will awaken feeling totally refreshed and energized.

10...9...8...7... feeling fantastic...6...5...feeling fantastic…4...feeling totally
energized...3...revitalized...2...1...eyes open feeling GREAT!

Doing this on a regular basis should reduce your physical stress, increase your energy and give you a more positive outlook on life.

Make 2010 as Real as You Are

In the drama called life
You are cast in only one role, yourself.
You should play it
Without imitating another.

Regarding improvements,
Make them as real as you are.

By doing so, you will be blessed to know
Your power to create magic.
