The
original members of Culture Club appeared on stage to loud
applause, Mikey
Craig, Roy Hay
and Jon Moss,
followed by Boy George. The band featured a horn section with saxophone,
trombone and trumpet, along with drums, bongos, bass, two guitars and three
background singers.
Boy
George revealed a dramatically different voice -- an octave lower, a deeper
pitch and rougher edge due to vocal damage.
He used his recalibrated voice wisely and delivered a superb
performance.
They
started things off with three blasts from the past, "Church of the Poison Mind,"
"It's a
Miracle," and
"I'll
Tumble 4 Ya."
This
is the band’s first tour in 15 years with the original lineup and coincides with
the fall release of "Tribes," their first studio album since 1999’s
"Don’t Mind If I Do."
