Georgia Music Hall of Fame, a set on Flickr.
It’s a sad day for music fans in Georgia. The Georgia Music Hall of Fame board of directors announced plans to permanently shut down the Hall of Fame on June 12th due to budget cuts and financial instability. While outside bidders put their names forward to fund it, the board of directors was dead-set on closing down. The board felt that no financial help would make the Hall of Fame important enough to invest into any further due to lack of tourism. The Georgia Music Hall of Fame’s inductee list includes the legendary James Brown, Otis Redding, Allman Brothers Band, Little Richard, Ray Charles and Trisha Yearwood, to name just a few.
